WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Playing its second game in as many days, the Lycoming College women’s soccer team was led by a 16-save effort by senior
Jennifer Basch (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), as Lycoming posted its third shutout in four games in a 0-0 double-overtime tie with Penn College in the Battle for the Lumber at the Penn College Soccer Field on Thursday night, Sept. 20.
Basch’s 16 saves were the most in a game for the Warriors (1-5-2 overall) since Jessica Bennett notched 17 in 2005 against FDU-Florham. Penn College took 29 shots in the game.
The Warriors were also aggressive throughout the game, taking 19 shots and forcing goalkeeper Reda Vermilya to make 15 stops for the Wildcats (4-1-1 overall).
Penn College was awarded the “Lumber” trophy, winning a penalty kick shootout, 3-0.
The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, Sept. 26, as they host FDU-Florham at 3:30 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
