HERSHEY, Pa. – Thanks to its best round at the Commonwealth Conference Championships since 2010, the Lycoming College golf team will enter the final round of the conference tournament in sixth place after first round score of 359 at the par-71, 7,061-yard Hershey Country Club East Course on Saturday, April 28.
The Warriors were led by their youngsters during the first round, as freshman
Nic McGee (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) is tied for 24
th with a first round 87 and sophomore
Zack Czap (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Oscelola) is right behind him in a tie for 26
th after carding an 89. Senior
Josh Chmelik (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) is tied 28
th after posting a 90 and freshman
Will Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield Area) rounded out the scoring four with a score of 93. Junior
Drew Tompkins (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) notched a 100 in his opening round.
The Warriors are six strokes ahead of both Widener and Aracadia and are within reach of Lebanon Valley, who finished the first round in fifth with a score of 343, 16 strokes ahead of the Warriors.
Lycoming wraps up the Commonwealth Conference Championship on Sunday, April 28 at the Hershey Country Club East Course. Tee-off time is set for 8 a.m.
