Warriors fall to Dutchmen

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Junior Brooke Strausser (Myerstown, Pa./Conrad Weiser Area) posted her eighth hat trick of the year, but Lebanon Valley College used a 13-goal first half en route to a 19-4 win over the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team in Commonwealth Conference action on Wednesday, April 11 at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
 
Strausser led the Warriors (3-8 overall, 0-2 Commonwealth) with seven draw controls, four caused turnovers and five groundballs to go with her three goals, as she moved within four points of becoming the 12th player in school history to reach 100 points.
 
The two teams played even for much of the first 15 minutes of the first half, with Strausser’s second goal bringing the Warriors within a goal of the Dutchmen (6-5 overall, 1-1 Commonwealth) at 3-2 with 18:22 left. A goal by Taylor Kruter with 15:59 left in the half started a run of 15 straight goals by the Dutchmen.
 
Strausser complete the hat trick with an acrobatic goal with 16:12 left in the game and freshman Casey Maguire (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) added a tally with 11 minutes left on a give by sophomore Amber Graybill (Pasadena, Md./Northeast).
 
Maguire posted a goal and assist and Graybill notched two groundballs, a caused turnover and an assist.
 
Hana Krechel led the Dutchmen with four goals, six assists and 10 draw controls. Mel Modrick added two goals, two assists and five groundballs and Bailey Benz posted two goals, four caused turnovers and seven groundballs.
 
In net, junior Lauren Reitnouer (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) posted three stops in 25 minutes and senior Kristina Maurer (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Marian Catholic) added two in the last 35 for the Warriors. Erica Ameigh made five saves to earn the win for the Dutchmen in one half of action.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, April 11, when they host Commonwealth Conference foe Widener at 1 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
