Lycoming opens up Basinger Tournament against Cairn

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - With an eight-game winning streak behind it, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team will look to win its third straight Louis Fleming Basinger Tournament, starting the two-day event by facing Cairn on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 6 p.m. In the other first round game, John Jay will face Gallaudet at 8 p.m.

The Warriors (9-1 overall) are averaging 83.4 points per game, which ranks amongst the top 25 in Division III, while the team’s 20.5 assists per game are fourth in the nation and 5.8 blocked shots per game are seventh. Senior Jerald Williams leads the nation in both assists (11.1 per game) and steals (4.0).

Cairn (1-6 overall), former Philadelphia Biblical, are led by senior Seth Heinicke, who is 14th in the nation in scoring at 23.6 points per game.

• The Warriors are looking to win 10 games for the 19th straight year.

• The Warriors’ eight-game winning streak is tied for the sixth-longest in school history.

• Senior Jerald Williams enters the game with 671 career assists, which is tied for 18th in NCAA Division III history. He needs seven more assists to move past Matt Lucero of Austin, who is 16th with 677 assists.

• Senior Ihsaan Davis became the 11th player in school history to can 150 career 3-pointers with his third trey against King’s.

• All five of junior Justin Miller’s career double-figure scoring efforts have come this season.

• Four Warriors are in the top 10 in the Commonwealth Conference in blocks - junior Michael Rudy (2nd, 1.5), senior Anthony Martin (3rd, 1.2), junior Kevin Anthony (5th, 1.1) and Miller (6th, 1.0).
