CARLISLE, Pa. –
The Lycoming College women’s soccer team closed out its run at the Dickinson Women’s Soccer Classic by dropping a 3-0 decision to the 21st-ranked hosts at historic Dickinson Park on Saturday, Sept. 3.

The Warriors (0-2 overall) hung tough with the Devils (2-0 overall), who reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2010 before Samantha Friday found Marissa Kunkle for a goal in the 61st minute. Kelli Bergin assisted on two later goals to help put the game out of reach.

The Warriors held the Devils to just six first-half shots, as sophomore keeper Caitlin Dougherty (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) was forced to make just two saves in the half to keep it a scoreless tie. However, in the second half, the Devils managed 23 shots, forcing Dougherty to make nine saves.

Senior midfielder Jussae Hanford (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) led the Warriors with two shots.

Annie Wiechert made one save in the shutout for the Devils.

The Warriors open their 2011 home slate after a 10-day break, facing non-conference rival Juniata at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4:30 p.m.
