WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Junior Charlie Vess (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) netted two goals for the Lycoming College men’s soccer team, helping it down NYU-Poly, 2-1, to advance to their first Lycoming College Kick-Off Classic final since 2009, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday, Sept. 3.

The Warriors (2-0 overall) will look to take their seventh Kick-Off Classic crown on Sunday, Sept. 4, when they face Mount Union (1-0 overall) in the championship at 1 p.m. NYU-Poly (0-1-1 overall) will face McDaniel (0-1 overall) in the consolation game at 11 a.m. Mount Union beat McDaniel, 1-0, in the other first round matchup at the complex.

Vess got the Warriors on the board in the 19th minute, firing a shot into the left corner to give the Warriors an early lead, but the Fighting Blue Jays answered back just three minutes later, as Nick Michaczewski took a shot that hit the inside post and found the back of the net.

Vess wasn’t done, though, and in the 59th minute, senior Randon Wilston (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) found him on a one-timer that Vess headed in for the golden goal.

Lycoming posted a 14-9 advantage in shots, as Rishi Sarkar made four stops for NYU-Poly and junior James Quinn (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) made two stops for the Warriors.
