WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
After a dramatic 110 minutes at the Balls Mills Soccer Complex on Saturday night, Sept. 17, the Lycoming College men’s soccer team and Penn College ended the second Battle for the Lumber just as they began it – deadlocked at 0-0.

The match provided plenty of drama, as the Warriors (4-2-1 overall) fired 38 shots in the contest, led by nine each from juniors Matt Snively (Leonardtown, Md./Hollywood) and Pat Marion (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico). However, the Wildcats’ keeper, Aaron Volz, made 12 saves to keep it a scoreless tie.

The Warriors’ keeper, junior James Quinn (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) was just as good, making six saves off 14 Penn College shots. He made a few breathtaking stops, including two diving stops in a row off shots by Tristan Smith and William DeAngelo in the 53rd minute. In the first overtime, Godwin Omo-Ekpadi rang a shot off the post, but neither team could dent the twine and the Warrior defense stood tall for its third shutout of the season.

The Wildcats are now 2-1-2 overall.

The Warriors get back on the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when they host rival Juniata at 4:30 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
