WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - For the first time since 1966-67 and only the third time in program history, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team will look to head into the New Year with a perfect record, as perennial Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference power Penn State Behrend is the only remaining thing that stands in the way when the two face off in a midweek matinee on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
The Warriors (9-0 overall) are also looking to tie the mark of 10 straight wins set by the 2004-05 for the best start in program history with a win over the Lions. The 1966-67 team won five games before dropping their first game on Jan. 6 and the 1950-51 team won its first eight before falling on Jan. 27. The 2004-05 squad lost its first game on Dec. 30.
Penn State Behrend (2-6 overall) is led by 6-9 center Russ Conley, who is averaging 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Warrior Notes
• The longest winning streak in school history is 11 games, as it spanned two seasons from Feb. 1, 1967-Dec. 8, 1967.
• Junior Jerald Williams needs 12 assists to tie the school’s career record of 432 set by Brad Musser from 2002-06.
• Williams’ 21 assists against Mt. Aloysius are tied for the 19th-most ever in an NCAA game at any level. They set a school- and MAC-record and were the most in an NCAA game since Nov. 25, 2008.
• Williams needs four steals to reach 200 in his career. Unofficially, he can become the fourth player since the start of the Commonwealth Conference in 1993-94 to reach the mark.
•Sophomore Kevin Anthony crossed 400 career points with his last field goal against Mount Aloysius.
• The Warriors are one of 16 undefeated teams left in the NCAA Division III. The Warriors’ opponents this year have a combined .588 winning percentage.
