Jackie Oliva (Barnesville, Pa./Mahanoy Area) posted 10 kills and hit .412 and freshman
Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) notched 10 kills and eight digs to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-17) win over Alvernia University in Commonwealth Conference action on Tuesday night, Oct. 18, at the Physical Education Center.
With the win, the Warriors (13-13 overall, 3-3 Commonwealth) moved within a match of reaching the Commonwealth Conference playoffs for the first time since joining the league in 2007. The team will take on Albright (8-18 overall, 2-4 Commonwealth) for the right to the fourth and final playoff slot on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at Lamade Gym. The Warriors can reach their league’s playoffs for the first time since 2006, when the team won the Freedom Conference championship.
Oliva added a service ace, two blocks and two digs for the Warriors and Seibel posted four aces. Sophomore
Shelby Gear (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) notched nine kills and hit .562 for the Warriors and both freshman
Sara Petokas (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) and sophomore
Lacey Sollenberger (New Enterprize, Pa./North Bedford) each added four kills.

Katelyn McKillop (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) notched 35 assists and eight digs and freshman
Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) added eight digs. Sophomore
Kassidy Sedore (Stormville, N.Y./Spackenkill) notched six digs.
Alyssa Soltis led the Crusaders (7-10 overall, 1-5 Commonwealth) with nine kills and Amy Dziura added nine digs. Tori Beck posted 19 assists, two aces and six digs.
Sollenberger pounded down the first two kills of the match, helping the Warriors jump out to a 10-2 lead en route to the 25-13 win. In the second set, Alvernia took a 15-12 lead before the Warriors scored four of the next five points to tie the set. With the set tied at 22, a Crusader attack error was followed by two kills from Oliva to close out the 25-22 win. In the final set, the Warriors jumped out to a 20-10 lead en route to the 25-17 lead, finally closing out the match with a kill from Oliva after the Crusaders thwarted four match points.
The Warriors get back in action on Thursday, Oct. 20, when they head to Misericordia for a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
