WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Down by three goals on Saturday afternoon to No. 12 University of Rochester, sophomore Matt Snively (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) did his best to bring the Lycoming College men’s soccer team back into the game, scoring twice in a 12-minute span, but it was not enough for the Warriors, as the Yellowjackets added two more late goals to take a 5-2 decision on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

Snively started to lead the Warriors’ comeback in the 58th minute, as he took a pass from sophomore Dominick Dorsey (Manchester, Md./North Carroll), who leads the team with four assists, and fired a shot into the lower right corner. In the 71st minute, Snively fired a shot into the right corner off a corner kick, receiving the ball from sophomore Jimmy Deasel (Kingsville, Md./Loyola Blakefield), bringing the score to 3-2.

Just a minute later, though, Jimmy Parinello fired a shot into the lower left corner from 30 yards out and in the 81st minute, Misha Carrel-Thomas scored on a penalty kick to end the Warriors’ hopes for an upset.

The Yellowjackets (5-0-3) got out to the lead in the first half, as Tom Sorrentino assisted Sean Coyle on a pair of goals and in the eighth minute of the second half, Josh Richards scored on a breakaway, setting up Snively’s pair of goals.

Sophomore James Quinn (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) made six saves for the Warriors (4-5 overall) and Scott Garfing stopped four shots, as six of Lycoming’s eight shots were on net.

The Warriors get back into action on Tuesday when Frostburg State comes to the Shangraw Athletic Complex for a 4:30 p.m. match.
