Lady Warriors fall in semifinals to Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse dropped a tough 17-6 semifinal match up to top-seeded Elizabethtown College on Thursday, May 6. Senior Megan McIntyre capped her career with two goals, giving her 47 goals on the season.

The Blue Jays (14-4) dominated the first half, taking a 10-2 advantage at halftime. The Lady Warriors lone tallies come from McIntyre, both of which were free position shots.

At the 21:30 mark in the second half, senior Sammi Jo Bell found the back of the net in a free position attempt to pull Lycoming (10-8) to within 10, down 13-3. After another Elizabethtown goal, freshman Brooke Strausser scored her second goal of the playoffs after senior netminder Brittany Bryan made a sprawling save and got the ball out for a fast break.

Senior Justine Titko wrapped up her career with a score at the 58 second mark. Just after the Titko goal, senior Brianna Robertson capped the game with a tally with just 28 seconds on the clock.

Bryan faced a shooting gallery during the game, with the Blue Jays taking 34 stops. She made nine saves in the game.

Notes: Lycoming and Elizabethtown have met twice in the post season … playoff series tied at one apiece … head coach Erica Brown posted her first 10 win season at Lycoming … the Lady Warriors have reached the post season four consecutive seasons
