Box Score 2 IRVING, Texas – The Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team split a pair of decisions during its spring break trip to Texas. The Lady Warriors fell to Colorado College 14-3 on Monday, March 1 and defeated York College of Pennsylvania 15-14 on Wednesday, March 3.
In the opener, Lycoming (1-2) struggled on offense, posting just three goals. The two teams battled in the first half, with the Tigers (2-0) taking a slight 4-2 advantage into halftime. Senior attacker
Megan McIntyre scored both of Lycoming’s goals in the first half, including one on a free position.
During the second half, Colorado College put together a pair of five-goal runs, broken up by senior Warrior
Justine Titko, who found the back of the net with 13:08 left in the game.
In their second game, the Warriors and the Spartans of York College fought throughout the contest. Lycoming benefitted from being able to string back-to-back goals several times in the contest. York opened with a 4-1 advantage, eventually holding a 6-4 lead at halftime. Senior attacker
Amanda Baker struck first for Lycoming, followed by McIntyre and consecutive goals from
Sammi Jo Bell and
Grace Gargiulo, who’s goal came with just two seconds left in the first 30 minutes.
Lycoming’s offense awoke in the second half, outscoring the Spartans (1-2) 11-8 in the period. Bell and McIntyre each scored twice in the stanza, while Titko recorded three goals for the Warriors. Baker was both a scoring threat with two goals, as well as a feeder, tallying one assist.
In the York game, senior defender
Danielle Gargiulo picked up a team-high four groundballs, while causing the Spartans to turn the ball over three times.
Lycoming opens its Middle Atlantic Conference schedule on Saturday, March 13 when the Lady Warriors head to Purchase, N.Y. to face Manhattanville College. The first draw is slated for 1 p.m.
