WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After taking down Misericordia University 18-9 on Wednesday, March 24, the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team celebrated the 100th victory since the program was founded at the College in 1997. Seniors Megan McIntyre and Justine Titko scored four goals apiece in the victory.
The contest was close throughout the first half, with both teams knotted at three goals apiece with 19:25 left in the period. But the Lady Warriors strung together five unanswered goals over a four minute span to grab an 8-3 lead.
Titko scored twice during the run, as did fellow senior midfielder
Brianna Robertson. The Cougars drew close towards the end of the half, but Lycoming staved off a run and took an 11-8 lead into halftime.
“The first half was a little sloppy for us,” said head coach
Erica Brown. “But we cleaned it up in the second half and forced them into several turnovers.”
Lycoming (3-4, 2-1) opened the second half with another five-goal run, with
McIntyre tallying twice and one goal each from
Kate Isennock, Grace Garguilo and Titko. Misericordia scored just once in the half while Lycoming was serving a yellow card penalty. Freshman

Veronica Clair each scored once to end the game.
“We had goals going into this game, we accomplished them and our shot selection was much better today,” said Brown. “Libby (Stoesz) played well for us in the second half.”
McIntyre and Titko each scored a game-high four goals while McIntyre dished out two assists.
Amanda Baker recorded three goals and two assists. Senior attacker
Paige Botti handed out two helpers while Robertson scored twice. Senior midfielder
Sammi Jo Bell dominated the draw circle, coming up with a game-high eight controls as
Gargiulo grabbed five. Robertson and Titko both picked up three groundballs. In the cage,
Brittany Bryan made seven stops in the win, while back up
Stoesz recorded two saves.
As a team, Lycoming outshot the Cougars (1-3, 0-2) 42-21 and picked up 19 groundballs to Misericordia’s 10. The Cougars’ netminder Brenna Bakera recorded a game-best 12 saves.
The Lady Warriors' next game will be on Saturday, March 27 when they head to St. Davids, Pa. to face Middle Atlantic Conference foe Eastern University. The game will be a rematch of last season’s conference quarterfinals and is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Notes: The Lycoming women’s lacrosse program was first coached by Gene Peluso, currently the head men’s lacrosse coach at Stevens Institute of Technology … Lycoming’s first victory was a 4-3 win over Bloomsburg University on April 6, 1997 … the program is now 100-91 overall … senior attacker Megan McIntyre celebrated her 22nd birthday with the win in today’s game
