Flick’s record-breaking day paces Warriors at Swarthmore Invitational

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior Stacy Flick (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) had another stellar day at the Swarthmore Invitational to lead the Lycoming College swimming teams, as she broke her own school-record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.61 on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Ware Pool.

Flick finished second in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke, posting a season-best time of 1:07.26 in the 100, just a quarter of a second behind Rowan’s Stacey Rahter. Flick set the school-record with 2:27.61, besting her school-record by five-hundredths of a second, while finishing second to Rahter, who posted a time of 2:25.90.

Sophomore Hope Weber (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) added a fifth-place finish with a season-best time of 2:23.43 in the 200-yard butterfly.

Senior Meg Emery (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) also enjoyed a solid day with season-best times in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.08 to place sixth, the 200-yard backstroke, where she took seventh with a time of 2:21.69, and the 200-yard freestyle, taking 14th with a time of 2:07.67.

Sophomore Lindsey Hunsicker (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) posted a pair of top-10 finishes, notching a 1:04.05 to finish eighth in the 100-yard butterfly and a 57.95 to take 10th in the 100-yard freestyle.

Sophomore Elisa Becker (Reston, Va./South Lakes) also added a top-10 finish in the 100-yard butterfly, placing ninth with a season-best 1:04.78. Freshman Jennie Marosits (Mt. Lakes, N.J./Mt. Lakes) also posted a top-10 finish in the 100-yard backstroke, notching a season-best 1:05.72. Becker also took 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:46.06 and Marosits added a time of 19:50.26 to take 14th in the event.

Freshman Meredith Ellmore (Lothian, Md./Southern)added a time of 1:06.50 in the 100-yard freestyle, besting her previous season-best time by 2.5 seconds. Sophomore Emilie Norton (Winthrop, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) posted a time of 2:51.69 to take 24th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time.

Freshman Jake Pelinsky (Southwick, Mass./Westfield) led the men’s team with a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:19.07 and he added another top-five finish by taking fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, besting his season-best time by nearly 2.5 seconds, as he notched a time of 1:04.30.

Senior Joe Kuder (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) finished 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:18.13 and freshman Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) added a 13th-place finish at 19:28.78. Port also notched a 15th-place finish, posting a time of 2:19.95, in the 200-yard backstroke to best his previous-best time by more than eight seconds.

Freshman Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg) added a 14th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:56.94 and he notched a 16th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.21.

Junior Derek Lupia (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) also added season-best times of 1:58.43 to take 19th in the 200-yard freestyle and 53.19 to take 25th in the 100-yard freestyle and freshman Christian Baxter (Springfield, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) took 23rd in the 200-yard with a season-best 2:02.66.

The Warriors get back in the pool on Saturday, Dec. 11 when Messiah comes to the Lamade Gym Pool for a 1 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet.
