WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Kaitlin Horn (Ringtown, Pa./North Schuylkill) notched her second hat trick of the season and added an assist to help the Lycoming College women’s soccer team to a 5-0 win over the College of St. Elizabeth on a rainy Wednesday, Oct. 6 at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

Horn posted tallies in the 14th, 17th and 62nd minutes to lead the Warriors (7-3 overall), while senior Kati Shaner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) added three assists, as the pair continued to pace the Warrior attack. With 28 points on the year, Horn is already tied for fourth in the school’s single-season record book, while her 12 goals are tied for third. Shaner, with 22 points is right behind Horn, sitting eighth on the single-season points list and her six assists are also tied for eighth.

Both Horn and Shaner also moved up the career scoring chart, with the seven points in the game helping Horn move into second in school history with 72 career points, as she passed Donna Mongiello (1998-01). She also moved within four goals of the school record of 34 held by Rebekah Shipe (2005-08), as she became the second player in school history to reach 30 career goals.

With her three-point day, Shaner inched to within one point of becoming the sixth player in school history to reach 50 career points. She passed Beth Weixel (2001-04), who accumulated 47 points in her career, to move into sixth in the school’s all-time record book in points.

The Warriors got on the board in the sixth minute, as sophomore Leslie Kester (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) took a pass from Horn after a cross from Shaner and she drilled it into the middle of the net from seven yards out.

Horn added her first goal eight minutes later on a give from Shaner and added another goal two minutes later, as she stole the ball and shot it into the right corner.

Horn capped off the hat trick in the second half, as she fired a shot into the upper right corner from 10 yards out after taking a pass from freshman Ashley Irwin (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill). Shaner also assisted on the goal.

Less than a minute later, junior Jussae Hanford (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) capped the Warriors’ scoring on a give by freshman Kristi Constantino (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury), as she blasted a shot into the lower right corner under a diving keeper from 25 yards out.

Sophomore Jennifer Basch (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) earned the shutout, as she posted four saves, all on point blank shots. St. Elizabeth (4-8 overall) took five shots in the contest.

Catherine De La Cruz made 17 saves in the net for the Screaming Eagles.
