WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Thanks to a dominating 25-3 advantage in shots, the Lycoming College men’s soccer team had one of its finest offensive performances of the season, beating Lancaster Bible, 3-0, in non-conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
With a 12-0 advantage in shots in the first half, the Warriors (6-6 overall) had plenty of chances, hitting the crossbar twice and in the 14th minute, sophomore Mike Krebs (Bel-Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) put the team ahead on a blistering shot from 15 yards out into the upper right corner. Krebs was set up with beautiful passing by sophomore Jimmy Deasel (Kingsville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and senior Brad Houseknecht (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley), who set up Krebs with the one-timer.
In the second half, the Warriors salted the game away, as Deasel hit a one-timer into the right corner on a rebound of a shot by junior Randon Wilston (Mainesburg, Pa./Mansfield) to take a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute.
In the 90th minute, Houseknecht closed out the game with a shot on a whirling kick into the left corner on an assist by freshman Garrett Erny (Delran, N.J./Delran).
The Chargers (7-6 overall), who saw a five-game winning streak snapped, managed just one shot on goal, which was stopped by freshman Nial Krach (Forest Hill, Md./Calvert Hall College), who saw his first action since the second game of the season. Sophomore James Quinn (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) also assisted with the shutout and earned the win, playing the first half in goal.
Jarrod Bergey made six stops in goal for the Chargers.
The Warriors get back on the field on Friday when they head to Widener for a Commonwealth Conference match at 7 p.m.
