Women's soccer upends St. Vincent 2-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
--- Two different Lycoming College women’s soccer players scored en route to a 2-0 win over St. Vincent College on Saturday, Sept. 26. Both goals came in the first half of the game, one from Kelly Prendergast and the second from Sammi Jo Bell.

The win improves Lycoming to 5-4-1 on the season, while St. Vincent slips to 1-8.

Both of Lycoming’s goals came four minutes apart in the first half. Prendergast (Edison, N.J./Rutgers Preparatory) scored her goal on a rebounded shot by Kati Shaner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville.)

Bell scored what proved to be the insurance goal just four minutes later on a Shaner corner kick, redirecting the ball into the goal with her head.

The second half was a defensive battle, with St. Vincent pepper the cage with six shots to Lycoming’s two. The Bearcats took seven shots on goal, with Warrior senior goalkeeper Brie Pepe (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional) earning her third shutout of the season, posting a season-high seven saves in the victory. Prendergast and Shaner each took three shots, accounting for six of Lycoming’s 10 for the day.

Lycoming returns to the Shangraw Complex on Tuesday, Sept. 29 when it faces off against King’s College, Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
