Men's soccer defeats Cazenovia 3-1

CAZENOVIA, N.Y.
--- Chris Lorenzet scored his third goal of the week to seal a 3-1 victory for Lycoming College men’s soccer team over Cazenovia College on Sunday, Sept. 13. The Warriors had three different goal scorers on the day.

With the victory, Lycoming is now 4-1 on the season while Cazenovia slips to 3-3 overall.

Senior midfielder Mike Coates (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) got the scoring going early for Lycoming as he scored an unassisted goal just 10:07 into the match. Both teams battled until the Wildcats knotted the score 1-1 on header at 42:57.

After the half, both teams continued to pepper the goals. Lorenzet (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) found himself pinned in the corner, but slipped through four Cazenovia defenders, beating the goalie to the near post.

Randon Wilston
Sophomore forward Randon Wilston capitalized on a scramble in front of the goal at 85:54. Senior midfielder Dan Marcin (Wilmington, Del./Concord) collected a rebounded shot and found Wilston (Mainesburg, Pa./Mansfield HS) making a run and hit him with a pass which Wilston finished.

The Warriors split time in the goal, with senior Matt Klipp (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) playing the first half, and senior David Bald (Edgewater, Md./South River) playing the second half. Klipp was forced to make three saves. Lycoming outshot Cazenovia 19-14 and held a 7-5 advantage on corners.

Lycoming returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 16 when they travel to La Plume, Pa. to face the Giants of Keystone College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
