WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
--- The Lycoming College men’s soccer team last won the “Battle of the Boot” on Sept. 5, 2003. Six years later, they reversed the trend and claimed the “Boot” again, defeating Susquehanna University 3-0 on Friday, Sept. 11.  Senior forward Chris Lorenzet had a hand in each goal, scoring twice and assisting once.
The win improves Lycoming to 3-1 on the season, while Susuquehanna slips to 1-4 for the year.

Through the first half, both teams battled in the traditionally fierce manner associated with the game, but neither team could connect on shots, with the Crusaders holding a slight 4-2 shot advantage in the first half. Senior goalkeeper Matt Klipp was forced to make one save in each period, but was very active in the defensive game, making tackles and forcing opponents wide. The first 45 minutes ended in a draw 0-0.

But the Warriors’ Kyle Welsh (North Wales, Pa./Landsdale Catholic) took a header from Lorenzet (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) on a corner kick and sent the ball into the back of the net at 46:16, just over one minute into the fresh half. The Crusaders net minder was ejected from the game after tackling a Warrior violently in the box in the 81st minute. Lorenzt was selected to take the penalty kick, finding the goal on the far post.

Lorenzet scored the third insurance goal in the 87th minute on a spectacular diving header from the foot of freshman midfielder Kory Barto (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), sealing the victory and the trophy for the Warriors.
