Lady Warriors tie Marywood on the road

Kari ShanerSCRANTON, Pa. – Sophomore transfer Kari Shaner recorded her first goal of the season as the Lycoming College women’s soccer team tied Marywood 1-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

The Lady Warriors got out of the gates slowly, allowing a goal in the first minute of play when Marywood’s Amanda Costello put the Pacers on the board at the 54 second mark. Lycoming settled in and shut down the Marywood offense following the opening goal.

Shaner (Hughesville, Pa.) scored her first goal in a Lycoming uniform in the 67th minute to tie the game at 1-1, which would prove to be the final tally.

Freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Powers (Dover, Pa.) recorded eight saves in 110 minutes after allowing the opening goal.

The Lady Warriors held a 16-11 advantage in shots and an 11-9 advantage in shots on goal.

With the tie, Lycoming moves to 0-1-2 on the season while Marywood drops to 2-0-1.

The Lady Warriors are off until next Saturday, Sept. 13, when Dickinson travels to Williamsport for a 4 p.m. contest at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
