LATROBE, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team recorded its third-straight win and third-consecutive shutout with a 3-0 victory against St. Vincent on Sunday, Sept. 28.
The Lady Warriors (3-3-2) scored early when Bekah Shipe (Northumberland, Pa.) beat St, Vincent’s (3-5-1) keeper on a breakaway in the ninth minute.
Steph Shearer (Reading, Pa.) added to the Lycoming lead with an unassisted marker in the 23rd minute. The goal was the first of the year for Shearer.
One final insurance goal came in the 64th minute when Kaitlin Horn (Ringtown, Pa.) netted her third of the season.
Lycoming managed 10 shots in each half to hold a 20-9 advantage in shots. The Lady Warriors held a 14-6 edge in shots on goals and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Keeper Brie Pepe (Lafayette, N.J.) recorded her second shutout of the season, finishing the game with six saves.
Lycoming returns home on Saturday, Oct. 4, for its Commonwealth Conference opener against Arcadia. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Note: Over the last three games, the Lady Warriors have outscored their opponents 14-0.
