Women’s soccer falls 1-0 in rainy contest

Kati ShanerWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team fell 1-0 against Dickinson College in a rainy game on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Dickinson peppered Lycoming goalkeeper Chelsea Powers (Dover, Pa.) with four shots on goal in the first period but the freshman showed poise and turned all of them away. The Lady Warriors managed two shots on goal in the first half but could not find the net as the game went to halftime tied at 0-0.

Dickinson’s Sarah Montminy put the Devils on the board in the 73rd minute when she beat Powers from 30 feet out off a pass from Genevieve Olson. Her marker would prove to be the game-winner.

Dickinson outshot the Lady Warriors 20-8 in the game while holding an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Powers was credited with the loss after allowing one goal and recording seven saves.

The Lady Warriors fall to 0-2-2 on the season while the Devils improve to 3-0-2.

Lycoming will face Juniata on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in Huntingdon. Kickoff is schedule for 4:30 p.m.
