WOOSTER, Ohio – The Lycoming College swimming team enjoyed successful performances over the course of the three-day College of Wooster Invitational, held from Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 4-6.
The top performance of the weekend came from freshman Joe Andrie (Reedsville, Pa.), who bettered his own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.83. Andrie also swam the 200-yard IM (2:12.56) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.05) in season-best times. His mark in the 200-breast was less than one second of the school record.
Also competing for the men’s team was Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa.), John Dougherty (Mountain Top, Pa.), Brian Fausel (Burdett, N.Y.), Chad Lemmons (Boiling Springs, Pa.), Brandon Good (Clearfield, Pa.) and Trevor Silbernagel (Jefferson Township, N.J.).
Fausel posted his top times of the season in the 200-yard IM (2:12.75), 100-yard butterfly (55.15) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.00). He advanced to the final round in each of the butterfly events.
Biggs turned in his best performance of the season in the 500-yard freestyle (5:13.90) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.86). He also swam the 1,650-yard freestyle for the first time this season, finishing in a time of 18:09.61.
Dougherty put forth his best effort of the season in the 500-yard freestyle (5:17.86), 200-yard freestyle (1:49.45) and 100-yard freestyle (50.28).
Chad Lemmons also put in his best performance of the season in the 200-yard IM (2:15.71) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.18).
Trevor Silbernagel turned in his top times of the year in the 400-yard IM (5:03.05) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.07).
Brandon Good had his best performance of the season in the 100-yard freestyle (52.45).
The women’s team was represented by Meg Emery (Burke, Va.), Jackie Kitner (Great Mills, Md.), Claire Zido (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Kirsten Snyder (Reading, Pa.), Nichole Zoller (Xolonia, N.J.) and Stephanie Conrad (Enola, Pa.).
Zido improved significantly on her top performances of the season, posting great swims in the 200-yard IM (2:26.92), 400-yard IM (5:04.66) and 1,650-yard freestyle (19:50.37).
Emery put up her best times of the season in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.34) and 200-yard backstroke (2:20.80).
Snyder turned in her best time in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.68) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:42.84).
Zoller had her best performances of the season in the 50-yard freestyle (26.78), 100-yard backstroke (1:04.67) and 100-yard freestyle (59.74).
Conrad rounded out the top performances with season-bests in the 50-yard freestyle (27.13), 100-yard backstroke (1:04.12) and 200-yard backstroke (2:24.60).
Both the men’s and women’s swimming teams will return to action when the students return for the spring semester. The team’s first meet is set for Jan. 14, against FDU-Florham and King’s in a tri-meet at the Wilkes-Barre CYC. That meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
