Lycoming women’s soccer suffers season-ending loss at Widener

Kaitlin HornCHESTER, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team saw its playoff hopes come to an end after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Widener on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The Lady Warriors needed Albright to defeat Arcadia to qualify for their first trip to the conference playoffs, but Arcadia earned a 2-0 win in that game.

Widener outshot Lycoming 10-6, including 6-4 in shots on goal.

Brie Pepe (Lafayette, N.J.) was credited with the loss in goal after allowing two goals and recording four saves.

Widener scored its first goal in the 55th minute and added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 84th minute.

With the loss, Lycoming closes the season at 5-8-4 overall and 2-3-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. The 2-3-1 conference mark is the best since a 3-3 finish in 2004.
