In what is really a tie with senior teammate Seth Lansberry, senior Nolan Barger has earned his seventh career Warrior of the Week award and the second of the season. Barger and Lansberry each earned All-American honors at the 2017 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, with Barger finishing sixth at 165 pounds and Lansberry fourth at 149 pounds. For Barger, it was the third All-American honors of his career, as the 165-pounder who went 38-6 as a senior with 16 pins, as he became the first Warrior grappler in school history to place three times at nationals. Barger finished 3-3 at the tournament, giving him a career record of 13-5 at nationals. He posted two pins during the first day of the tournament, securing All-American honors with a first period cradle and pin of No. 5 seed Connor Brummelt of Wabash. He is one of only four athletes in school history to earn All-American honors three times, joining Mark Barnes (men's lacrosse, 1999-01), Ed Dougherty (football, 1989-91) and Rick Bealer (1988-90).
