Shelby Gear, a freshman from Rochester, N.Y., had a solid debut as a right-side hitter for the Warriors, leading the team to a split during its opening tri-match. Gear posted 15 kills against Baptist Bible and notched 10 in the season-opening win over Penn State Altoona. Thanks to her standout performance, Gear finds herself at the top of several Commonwealth Conference categories, including standing second in hitting percentage (.417), third in kills (2.50) and second in service aces (0.70).
