By posting three wins over seeded wrestlers en route to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regionals, junior Johnathan Secor has earned his second career Warrior of the Week award. Secor started his tournament run with a surprising 4-2 win over No. 4 seed Jerrold Roosa of Thiel, posting a first-period takedown to set the pace in the win. In the second round, he lost to Waynesburg’s Anthony Bonaventura, the No. 5 seed, 8-4, but rebounded with a pin of RIT’s Nick Fisk in 1:56. He reached the consolation semifinals with another upset, downing the No. 7 seed, Clayton Neivert of Brockport, 5-2. He dropped a 5-1 decision in the consolation semifinals, but rebounded with his third win of a seeded opponent in the fifth-place match, downing Heidelberg’s Jeremy Stepp, 3-2. Secor finished his junior year 20-17, reaching 20 wins for the first time in his career.
