WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College senior guard Eric Anthony has been named Warrior of the Week for Jan. 25. This marks the second time this season he has earned the weekly honor.
In just his third season at Lycoming, Anthony (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Central Catholic) surpassed the 1,000 career point mark during a 83-73 victory at Alvernia University on Saturday, Jan. 23. He also helped lead Lycoming to an 89-74 home victory against Elizabethtown on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Against the Blue Jays, Anthony recorded 12 points, as well as handing out seven assists. One of the conference’s best free throw shooters, it was fitting that Anthony broke the 1,000-point mark at the charity stripe, icing the game for Lycoming against Alvernia, as he put up 13 points in the game.
With last week's two victories, Lycoming extended its win streak to eight, while also remaining undefeated (8-0) on the road this season. In upcoming action, the Warriors will play at cross-town opponent Penn College on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
Lycoming’s sports information office will announce a Warrior of the Week through the 2009-10 academic year. The athletes will be featured on the homepage of the athletics Web site at athletics.lycoming.edu.
