By posting five wins to place at a tournament for the first time in his career, wrestling team junior Johnathan Secor has earned his first career Warrior of the Week award. Secor rebounded from an 0-3 weekend at the Budd Whitehill Duals by finishing third at the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championships, as the 174-pounder posted an impressive three major decisions and a pin. He opened the tournament with a 9-0 major decision against RIT’s Collin Doane before falling to Ithaca’s nationally-ranked Jules Doliscar in the quarterfinals. Secor ran through the consolation bracket, though, posting a 10-1 major decision against RIT’s Nick Fisk, pinning Messiah’s Jeremy Bailes in 2:59 and getting an injury default to move into the third-place match, where he enjoyed an 8-0 major decision against Brockport’s Nick Joy.
