By leading the volleyball team to a pair of wins in the team's opening-day tri-match against Baptist Bible and Penn College, junior Jackie Oliva has earned her first career Warrior of the Week honors. Oliva averaged 3.8 kills to start the year in the league lead, and added a solid .350 hitting percentage, which is third in the league. She started off the Thursday matches by posting 13 kills and hitting .478 in 3-0 win over crosstown rival Penn College. She added 17 kills, an aces, three digs and four blocks in the five-set barn-burner with Baptist Bible. Oliva led team to first win over the Defenders in four meetings by posting three kills in four points after the Warriors were down 12-9 in the fifth set to tie the match. In all, she notched five kills in the fifth set. Amazingly, the 30 kills is almost half her previous career total, entering the year with just 64.
