Entering his 17th year with the program in 2024, Erik Berthold has been instrumental in helping the Lycoming volleyball program develop throughout his tenure.
During his first 16 years with the program, Berthold has helped tutor 20 all-conference selections and two all-region picks as well as helping the team to four straight appearances in the conference tournament from 2011-14. In all, the team has made six appearances in conference tournaments and enjoyed five winning seasons during his time with the team.
A 1991 graduate of Lycoming College with a bachelor of arts in music, Berthold earned a master's degree in secondary school counseling from the University of Scranton in 1995. His father, Howard, is a professor emeritus at Lycoming, serving as a professor of psychology for 35 years at the school.
Berthold is a secondary school counselor at Muncy High School and has formed and coached several teams from the high school. He competes in local volleyball leagues and regional tournaments.
Berthold resides in Williamsport with his wife, Shari, and two daughters, Abby and Ellie.
