A school-record breaker in a pair of events in his career, Andre Canavan '18 has returned to Lamade Gym Natatorium for a stint as assistant coach, entering his second year in 2020-21.
Canavan broke the school record in the 200-yard backstroke four times in his career, doing so for the last time when he finished third in the event at the 2017 MAC Championships by posting a time of 1:55.72. A key member of relay squads throughout his career, he was a part of the school-record setting 400-yard medley relay squad in 2015, which posted a time of 3:33.06 at the MAC Championships.
In total, Canavan earned six All-MAC honors in his career, three in the 200-yard backstroke, and he earned Academic All-MAC honors once and MAC Academic Honor Roll accolades twice.
Canavan earned a Bachelor of Arts in actuarial science and math from Lycoming College in 2018. He is also a senior admissions counselor at Lycoming College.
