Coach Drake

Kyle Drake

Now in his second decade of his association with the Lycoming College swimming program, Kyle Drake is set to begin his eighth year as an assistant men's and women's swimming coach at his alma mater.

Drake, a competitive swimmer since age 13, has helped the Warriors post a combined 90-47-1 (.656) record in dual meets as an assistant coach, while keeping both the men's and women's programs consistently amongst the top half of schools in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Drake, who assists in all aspects of the program, helped the Warriors' women's program to the 2010 MAC title and has helped the men finish as high as third while coaching 120 individual All-MAC performers and 69 All-MAC relay teams. He has also helped mentor nine MAC champions.

Before becoming an assistant on Coach Jerry Hammaker's staff in 2005-06, he swam for Hammaker for four years from 2001-05. He qualified for the MAC Championships in five events, including the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and the 1,650-yard freestyle. His versatility and willingness to swim in that variety of events earned him the 2005 Coach's Award.

Before Lycoming, Drake was a four-year letterwinner at Pocono Mountain High School.

Drake graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in history and he also earned a secondary education certificate. He is also a 7th- and 8th-grade social studies teacher at Jersey Shore Area Middle School.
