Joe Kost is back for his second year with the Warriors in 2013, working with the defensive backs.
In his first year with the Warriors, Kost helped mentor three all-conference defensive backs and one all-region selection. The Warriors stood at the top of the MAC in several defensive categories, including leading the league scoring defense (12.4) and finishing second in pass efficiency defense (105.8).
A 2011 team captain, Kost played in the secondary during his whole career at Ursinus before an injury sidelined him during his senior season after appearing in two games. During his career, Kost helped the Bears to three winning seasons, including an 8-2 campaign in 2010. He finished his career with 63 tackles, four interceptions, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, a sack and a fumble recovery. He enjoyed his finest season as a sophomore, helping Ursinus to an ECAC Bowl bid while making 32 tackles and picking off three passes.
Kost, a Hazleton, Pa., native, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise and sports science from Ursinus in 2012.
