A Juniata College graduate, Dominic Bornman is set for his third season as the wide receivers coach with the Lycoming College football team in 2016. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Bornman also oversees the Warriors' strength program.
In two years with the team, he has coached two First Team All-MAC selections as well as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in Ryan Umpleby.Â
In 2015, Bornman mentored a young corps of wide receivers, while also helping Umpleby finish a standout career that included him earning his second career First Team All-MAC honors. As a team, the Warriors finished fourth in program history with 3,806 yards of total offense, while the team's average of 5.7 yards per play was also fourth in program history.
In his first year with the squad, Bornman helped mentor Umpleby to a standout season, as the wideout became just the third receiver in school history to post 1,000 receiving yards. As a team, the Warriors racked up 2,404 receiving yards, the fourth-most in program history and caught 24 touchdowns, the third-most. Two of his receivers, Umpleby and John Sibel, were named Academic All-MAC.
Bornman began his coaching career at Trinity High School in Harrisburg, Pa., where he worked with wide receivers during the 2013 season.
Â
Bornman was a member of Juniata College’s football team from 2009-12, playing three seasons and sitting out the 2011 campaign with an injury. However, he came back to have a phenomenal senior season, leading the squad with 666 receiving yards, finishing seventh in the Centennial Conference in yards per game, two touchdowns and 48 receptions. During his first two seasons, he worked into the team’s depth chart, catching 19 passes for 137 yards as a sophomore.
Â
After his graduation from Juniata with a Bachelor of Arts in information technology and digital media in 2013, Bornman continued to play football, joining the Gridiron Development Football League’s Central Penn Piranhas, an adult-amateur team, where he played for two seasons.
Bornman is the son of Ty Bornman, who earned three letters with the Warriors from 1976-78, participating on the college’s first MAC champions as a senior.
