WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Two Lycoming College women's tennis players competed in singles finals in their flights and one doubles team also competed in the finals on Sunday, Sept. 6, at the King's College Invitational at Kirby Park.
Junior
Sadie Stahl (Duboistown, Pa./South Williamsport) posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over a competitor from Misericordia and a 6-1, 7-5 win over Muhlenberg at No. 2 singles on Saturday. On Sunday, she fell to a competitor from Rutgers-Camden, 6-4, 6-3.
First-year
Agi Gecsey (Budd Lake, N.J./Mount Olive) notched a 6-0, 6-0 win in her first match against a King's Monarch before posting a 7-6 (5), 0-6, 10-3 win over Misericordia on Saturday at No. 6 singles. She fell to Ella Pomeranz of Muhlenberg, 7-6 (3), 6-1, in the final Sunday.
In doubles play, sophomore
Erica Gilligan (West Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area) and senior
Marissa Caspersen (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia) posted a 6-4 win over Muhlenberg at No. 4 doubles Saturday before falling to Wilkes in the final, 6-4, on Sunday.
The Warriors head to Alfred University for a 4 p.m., non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
