WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Lycoming Warriors men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with the ninth-ranked Catholic University of America, but a goal in the final 30 seconds helped Catholic to a 1-0 Landmark Conference win on Saturday, Sept. 26 at UPMC Field.
The Warriors (4-4, 0-1) notched three shot attempts late in the second half as they made multiple offensive pushes. The Cardinals scored after an initial shot from Donik Elshani ricocheted off the right post to Alessandro Marquez Zeleya, who punched in the winning goal with 23.8 seconds left on the clock.
Junior goalkeeper Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va / Spring Mills) made five saves for the Warriors.
Marquez Zeleya scored the lone tally for Catholic, with Owen Allegro making one save in goal.
The Warriors will be back in action in a non-conference match against Messiah University on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The match will kickoff at 7 p.m. From UPMC Field.
