Block sets Lycoming points record at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. – Senior Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) scored six goals and an assist to move into the top spot on the Lycoming College women's lacrosse program's career points list, highlighting a 13-9 setback to Goucher College in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday night, April 8, at Beldon Field.
 
Block, the NCAA leader in goals (6.36) and Division III leader in points (7.45) entering the game, matched her pace with six goals and an assist to give her 326 points in her career, breaking the mark of 319 points set by Kelly McGinniss '19 with her first goal of the evening. She also moved into fourth in program history with 76 goals this season, just four from the school record of 80 set by Grace Gargiulo in 2011 and tied by Meghenn Jackson (2016) and Kelly McGinniss (2011). She is 12 goals from McGinniss' record mark of 284 in a career.
 
Block broke the points record with her first goal of the game, coming 4:26 into the contest. She added one more goal in the quarter, one in the second quarter and then broke through with three goals in the third quarter, helping the Warriors (3-9 overall, 0-5 Landmark) during a four-goal run to close from a 10-5 deficit to come within a goal as the fourth quarter started.
 
Goucher (6-7 overall, 2-3 Landmark) scored three fourth-quarter goals to keep the Warriors at bay.
 
First-year Molly Giufre (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) posted two goals and a caused turnover and junior Mychaela McDowell (Wilmington, Del./John Dickinson School) also scored. First-year Julie Dammes (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers, senior Autumn Shahan (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Charter) had two caused turnovers and picked up three ground balls, first-year Rachel Crawford (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) posted five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
 
Wrenn Harvey led the Gophers with a goal and five assists and Katie Bloom, Imani Ward and Camden West each had three goals. Dakhai Handy won 10 draws and Angelena Holmes caused three turnovers.
 
In net, sophomore Emma Yanders (Kempton, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) posted 10 saves, caused two turnovers and picked up five ground balls. Kennedy Harper made six stops for Goucher.
 
The Warriors head to Moravian University for a 1 p.m., Landmark Conference game on Saturday, April 11.
