Block sets goals record against Juniata

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) notched her 12th hat trick of the season, scoring three goals to break a 15-year-old Lycoming College women's lacrosse goals record, as Lycoming fell to Juniata College, 23-8, in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday night, April 15, at UPMC Field.

Block broke the single-season goals mark with her final goal of the game, her 81st of the season, breaking the mark of 80 set by Kelly McGinniss (2019), Meghenn Jackson (2016) and Grace Gargiulo (2011). Block, who also holds the school's single-game goals (14) and points (17) record, as well as the career points record (331) is now seven goals from the school record of 284 career goals set by McGinniss.

First-year Lilian Quigley (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) posted a goal and two assists and junior Sarah Spring (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) added two goals for Lycoming (3-11 overall, 0-7 Landmark). First-year Julie Dammes (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) and first-year Molly Giufre (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) each had a goal and an assist. Dammes also added four draw controls and sophomore Angela Farnham (La Plata, Md./McDonough) scooped up three ground balls.

Juniata (4-10 overall, 3-4 Landmark) was led by seven goals and two assists from Ella McGlaughlin and seven goals and an assist from Skyler Stevens.

After falling behind 6-1, the Warriors scored three straight from Spring, Dammes and Block to start the second quarter, but Juniata answered with six of the next eight goals. Block's last goal, with 3:12 left in the third made it 15-8, but Juniata scored the last eight goals of the game.

Sophomore Emma Yanders (Kempton, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) finished with 16 saves for the Warriors. Caoilinn Heatley and Franceska Ditsky combined for six saves for Juniata.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, April 18, when they host Catholic University of America in a 1 p.m., Landmark Conference match.
