WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — A late goal was the difference as the Lycoming College men's soccer team fell, 1-0, to 16th-ranked University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at UPMC Field.
After an evenly-played, back-and-forth match, the Royals scored the deciding goal in the 82nd minute when Luke Roberto scored off a Alex Kozdron corner kick.
Lycoming junior keeper Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W. Va. / Spring Mills) made five saves for the Warriors (5-6, 1-2 Landmark), who took 10 shots in the game, five on goal. Justin Scavella earned the shutout for the Royals (7-1-3, 3-0 Landmark), turning away two attempts in the final moments, one leaping and one diving to preserve the win.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 with a Landmark Conference matchup at Moravian. Kickoff from Bethlehem, Pa. is scheduled for 1 p.m.
