Skeith, Wenger leads Warriors on first day at Tip-Off Tournament

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wash./Sultan) notched 18 kills, 23 assists and three aces and first-year Emi Wenger (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) added 15 kills and eight aces to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team to an opening-day split at the Tip-Off Tournament, falling to SUNY New Paltz, 3-2 (16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-10) before downing Pitt-Greensburg, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14) at Lamade Gym on Friday evening, Aug. 29.
 
First-year Charlene Petreshock (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) led the Warriors (1-1 overall) against the Bobcats (0-2 overall), notching nine kills while Skeith added seven kills, 10 assists, three aces and three blocks. Wenger added four kills, five aces and four digs and sophomore Angela Farnham (La Plata, Md./McDonough) notched five kills and four blocks, as Lycoming hit .261 (35-11-92) in the match and added 13 aces.
 
Mia Stohon added 10 kills to lead the Bobcats, Lily Buckles added 18 assists and Grace Bradley notched 11 digs.
 
The Warriors took the first two sets against the Hawks (2-0 overall) before New Paltz came back with wins in the next two sets and a three-point deficit in the fifth set.
 
Wenger led the Warriors with 11 kills, 16 digs, three aces and two blocks and Skeith added 11 kills, 11 digs and 12 assists for a triple-double. Senior Cameron Upcraft (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley) notched seven kills and six blocks. Junior Ima Mercado (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) added 31 digs and three aces.
 
Regan Dyba led the Hawks with 10 kills and three aces, Kim Braun posted 25 assists and Jordyn Lewis notched 24 digs.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Aug. 30, when they wrap up the Tip-Off Tournament by facing Penn St.-Hazleton at 2 p.m., in Lamade Gym.
