Eckerson has pair of hits at No. 16 Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Alex Eckerson (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) led the Lycoming College softball team with a pair of hits as it fell to 16th-ranked Moravian University, 9-0 and 9-0, in Landmark Conference action at Blue and Grey Field on Saturday, April 19.
 
In the first game, the Greyhounds (26-4 overall, 8-0 Landmark) notched 11 hits, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to secure a 9-0 win.
 
Senior Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (5-6) struck out eight and walked four in the circle for the Warriors (11-12 overall, 3-9 Landmark). Eckerson, Eiswerth and junior Hailee Sobieski (Wharton, N.J./Morris Catholic) had hits for Lycoming.
 
Sarah DeStefano tossed a three-hitter, allowing two walks and striking out five.
 
Holly Walter was 2-for-2 with two runs, Marcie Silberman was 2-for-2 with a  three-run homer that ended the game in the sixth, and Sage Snyder was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.
 
In the second game, the Greyhounds used a five-run fourth inning en route to a 9-0 win. Silberman was 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles and five RBI and DeStefano was 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
 
Eckerson and senior Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) had hits for the Warriors. Sophomore Kendall McAnelly (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (3-5) tossed 3 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs.
 
Kyra Holtje (8-0) pitched five innings, allowing two hits and a walk. She struck out four for Moravian.
 
The Warriors step out of conference to play a doubleheader with Lebanon Valley College on Monday, April 21, at 3 p.m., at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
