BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior
Kylie Segraves (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) homered and scored a pair of runs to lead the fifth-seeded Lycoming College softball team in its Landmark Conference Championship opener on Saturday, May 11, falling to top-seeded Moravian University, 3-2, at Blue-Grey Field.
The Warriors will now move into the elimination bracket and will face the loser of the game between third-seeded Juniata and second-seeded Catholic at 4 p.m.
Segraves had two of Lycoming's four hits in the game, scoring in the first and fourth innings, as she homered on a 3-0 pitch as the second batter of the game, sending the ball over the left field fence to give Lycoming (16-15 overall) a 1-0 lead.
The Greyhounds tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a homer from Marcie Silberman and took the lead with two runs in the third.
The Warriors closed within a run in the fourth, as Segraves singled followed by singles from junior
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area) - the 100th of her career - and sophomore
Alex Eckerson (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) to load the bases with no outs. Sophomore
Mallory Rodarmel (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock Township) drove in Segraves with a fielder's choice.
Silberman led the Greyhounds, going 2-for-3 with a run and Lindsey Gawrys had a two-RBI double.
Madi Cunningham (16-2) retired the last 12 batters she faced to keep the Warriors from coming back. She allowed four hits and two runs in the game, striking out seven.
Junior
Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (7-8) tossed four innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. She walked one and struck out four. Senior
Kylie Russell (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) threw two innings, allowing a hit and striking out two.
