WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After blasting three home runs and hitting .500 during a four-game set to lead the Lycoming College softball team to a pair of eye-opening wins, junior Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./ Williamsport Area) was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday, April 1.
Eiswerth was 6-for-12 in doubleheaders with Alfred and No. 20 Moravian, with three homers and eight RBI, posting a 1.333 slugging percentage, scoring five runs, hitting a double, stealing a base and handling all nine opportunities in the field as a right fielder and pitcher. She went 2-for-4 with two runs and a two-run homer in Lycoming's 8-6 win over Alfred that helped put it out of reach and followed that by going 3-for-3 and tying the school record with two home runs in 6-2 win over No. 20 Moravian. She drove in all six runs in the game, notching a first-inning RBI double, a solo homer in the fourth and a grand slam in the fifth, lifting the Warriors to their first win over a ranked team in 13 years.
Not to be outdone by her performance at the plate, in the circle, the junior was 1-0 with a save and 2.00 ERA in three appearances. She tossed 14 innings, allowing 15 hits and two walks, striking out 14, as she had a three-inning save against Alfred, the 2023 Empire 8 regular season champions, striking out five and allowing three hits and two runs in an 8-6 win and then posted a complete-game win against 2023 Landmark Conference champions and 20th-ranked Moravian, allowing six hits, one earned run and striking out a season-high eight in 6-2 win.
Eiswerth is ninth in the Landmark Conference with a .421 average, tied for third with three homers and sixth with 13 RBI. She also leads the league with two saves and is tied for sixth with four wins, seventh with a 2.46 ERA and fourth with 30 strikeouts.
Eiswerth is the softball team's first Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week and Lycoming's first conference honoree since Morgan Wetzel '23 was named the MAC Freedom Player of the Week on April 24, 2023.
The Warriors will be back in action Wednesday, April 3, as they visit Juniata College in Landmark Conference play at 3 p.m.
