SCRANTON, Pa. – All four of the fourth-seeded University of Scranton players converted penalty kicks to help lift it to a 4-2 win in a shootout after tying the game in the last 20 minutes to upend No. 5-seed Lycoming College in the first round of the Landmark Conference Championship on Tuesday night, Nov. 5, at Weiss Field.

A Warrior shot hit the crossbar and one went over the net in the shootout, while the Royals (8-4-6 overall) were able to hit all four to win.

Scranton goes on to play top-seeded Juniata College on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., in a conference semifinal.

Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) scored his 10
th goal of the season in the 62

Keller Chamovitz (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) quickly hipped a cross from junior
Thomas Geyer (Havre de Grace, Md./Harford Tech) across the six to Woobay, who was there to finish off the play.

Aidan Stillman (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) nearly got the Warriors an insurance goal in the 63
rd minute, taking a shot just outside the 18 that just went over the net. Scranton tied the game in the 71
st minute as Jake Acosta caught up with a rebound after a shot and deflected it into the net.

Barnes got a header on net in the 84
th minute, but the Scranton keeper was there to stop it. Scranton had a pair of corners in the last two minutes of regulation, with a header being saved by Bennett with a dive off the goalline as the clock ticked under a minute to play.

In overtime, Rob Patrissi got a good opportunity with a header that Bennett just tipped across the endline and wide of the left corner of the net in the 93
rd minute. Capretto took another shot from about 15 yards out with seven minutes left in the second overtime that flew just over the crossbar, sending the game into penalty kicks.

Scranton got the first good opportunity in the game in the ninth minute, when a defender slipped allowing Matt Capretto to take a shot just outside the six-yard box, but his shot soared high of the net.

In the 32
nd minute, Ciaran Corr got a look at a header inside the six, but Lycoming's first-year keeper
Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) was right there to catch it at chest height.

Lycoming had the only corner in the half, but Scranton had the only two shots on goal and seven of the eight shots overall.

Bennett finished with two saves and Scranton keeper Charlie Smith equaled him, while Scranton finished with a 12-7 advantage in shots.

Woobay became the first Warrior to reach 25 points a season since Jordan Logan had 30 in 2015 and the first with 10 goals in a season since Sainclair Tueno in 2017, finishing the year with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points.
