Warriors comeback to down Drew, 2-1

MADISON, N.J. - Juniors Christian Woobay (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) and Keller Chamovitz (Sewickley, Pa. / Quaker Valley) each secured a goal for the Lycoming College men's soccer team within two minutes of each other in the second half to help Lycoming come-from-behind to post a 2-1 win against Drew University in Landmark Conference action as Lycoming secured a spot in the Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Ranger Stadium.

The Warriors rose to 8-5-4 overall and 3-3-2 in the Landmark Conference with two games remaining in the regular season — one non-conference game against Gettysburg on Tuesday at 7 p.m., and the Landmark Conference finale on Saturday, Nov. 2, against Elizabethtown. With 11 points in conference play, the Warriors clinched the sixth and final conference championship slot. A win over Elizabethtown would help the Warriors move into the No. 5 slot.

Trailing by one in the 57th minute, Woobay tied the game and two minutes later,  Chamovitz followed suit with a goal that pushed Lycoming into the lead.

The Warriors posted nine shots with three being made by Chamovitz, who led Lycoming's offensive efforts, and the Rangers had 16 shots. Lycoming notched six corner kicks to Drew's two.

In net for the Warriors, first-year goalkeeper Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va. / Spring Mills) finished with five saves. For Drew, David Hoyt saved two shots.

Kevn Kiernan led Drew's efforts with five shot attempts. The Rangers (7-8-3 overall, 1-6-1 Landmark Conference) got an early lead with a goal in the 17th minute by Kevin Martinez, who was assisted by Jonathan Gutierrez.
