Warriors overwhelm Wilkes, 22-9, for fifth straight win

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) scored nine goals, tied for second-most in the history of the Lycoming College women's lacrosse program, to lead the team as it won its fifth straight game in convincing style, 22-9, over Wilkes University, on Wednesday night, April 12, at Schmidt Stadium.

Stocker's nine goals are the most for a Warrior since Kelly McGinniss '19 scored nine against Arcadia on April 13, 2019. She combined with sophomore Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) for 16 of the team's 22 scores, as Maguire notched seven goals and an assist, becoming the 16th player in program history to reach 100 career goals with her second score of the contest. She also posted 14 draw controls and caused three turnovers.

The Warriors (7-4 overall, 3-0 MAC Freedom), meanwhile, have won five in a row for the first time since a five-game winning streak during a 10-7 2017 campaign and 3-0 in conference play since the 2007 team started out 5-0 en route to an 8-2 record in the MAC.

Sophomore Alexa Baldwin (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) posted three goals and three assists and first-year Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J./Morris Catholic) added two goals, three assists and three ground balls. Junior Riley Cranmer (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) also scored.

Wilkes (3-10 overall, 0-4 MAC Freedom) scored the first two goals in the first four minutes before Lycoming took control with a 10-goal run over the game's next 17 minutes, with Maguire leading the run with four goals and Stocker notched three.

The Warriors stretched the goal to 10 with a score from Block with 10:39 left in the third quarter before the Colonels cut the lead to eight three times before Stocker scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to make it 18-8, sparking a 6-1 Warrior run to end the game, as the 22-goals are Lycoming's most since a 23-19 win over Wilkes on April 21, 2018.

Brooklyn Pedana led the Colonels with three goals and two assists and Breanne Fulling added three goals.

Junior Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) stopped 13 shots as Wilkes fired 30 shots in the contest. Samantha Scott notched nine saves on 36 Lycoming shots.

The Warriors are back in action at Arcadia University for a MAC Freedom matchup on Saturday, April 15, at 1 p.m.
