WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A pair of big innings early helped the Lycoming College softball team wrap up the 2022 season with a 10-4 win over Wilkes University to cap a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Sunday, May 1 at the Ralston Athletic Complex, after narrowly falling 3-2 in the first game.

Kylie Russell (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area), senior
Morgan Klosko (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and sophomore
Kylie Segraves (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) all had three hits, with Klosko notching a double, a run and two RBI and Segraves scoring three times, posting a double, a triple and driving in two.

The Warriors (9-25 overall, 2-12 MAC Freedom) jumped out with a three-run first inning, as Klosko led off with a single before first-year
Avery Eiswerth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) walked and Segraves reached with a bunt single before an error allowed two runs to score. Another sac bunt and a sac fly from senior
Kacee Reitz (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) helped Segraves score.

In the third inning, Lycoming batted around to take an 8-1 lead, with first-year
Rachel Daub (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale Area) doubled to lead off before senior
Morgan Wetzel (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) followed with an RBI double. After senior
Angie King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) walked, Wetzel stole third, setting up an RBI single from Klosko. Segraves cleared the bases with a one-out triple before scoring on a groundout.

Wilkes scored a pair in the fourth to make it 8-3, but the Warriors responded with a run in the sixth, as Wetzel singled through the right side with two outs. After King walked, Klosko doubled to left to drive in Wetzel. In the seventh, Segraves doubled to right to lead off and scored on a two-out double from Russell to make it 10-3. Wilkes scored a run on two hits and an error in the seventh.

Eiswerth came on in relief in the fourth inning and allowed three hits and no earned runs to earn the win. Hope Mullins (4-5) allowed six hits and six earned runs in two innings in the loss.

Erin Cabry led the Colonels in the game, going 2-for-3 with two home runs.

Wilkes jumped out to a three-run lead in the first two innings of the first game, but the Warriors rallied late, scoring twice in the fifth inning in the 3-2 game.

Klosko led off the inning with a single through the left side before being pinch-run for by first-year
Jacqueline Snyder (Cogan Station, Pa./Williamsport Area). With one out, Eiswerth singled up the middle and then Snyder and Eiswerth performed a double steal to get to second and third, when sophomore
Kaleigh Kinley (Bellefonte, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) singled to right center. The Warriors loaded the bases with one out, but a fielder's choice at the plate and a groundout helped keep the Colonels in the lead.

Rhea Aurand (4-5) earned the win, allowing six hits and two runs in the complete game. She struck out six. Russell (2-6) allowed two hits and three runs in the loss, as she walked three and struck out four.

Kinley finished 2-for-3 with two RBI in the game.

The game was the final in the careers of Klosko, Reitz and King.

Klosko, a two-time all-conference designated hitter, hit .314 (86-of-274) in her career, posting 12 doubles, a grand slam against Messiah and 52 RBI.

King, an outfielder and pitcher, hit .303 in her career posting 30 hits, 18 runs and 14 RBI, with her biggest hit a two-run homer to help Lycoming seal a comeback from down eight to beat Alvernia last Sunday. She also had six wins in the circle, striking out 54 in 100 1/3 innings.

Reitz posted a .242 average while splitting time between second base and catcher in her career, notching 62 hits, six doubles and 31 RBI.
