Warriors roll past Mounties, 17-5

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Five Lycoming College women's lacrosse players scored at least twice to help it to its first win of the 2022 season, as the team use nine first-quarter goals en route to a 17-5 win over Mount Aloysius College on Saturday afternoon, March 5, at UPMC Field.
 
First-year Katie Maguire (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) led the way with four goals for the third straight game and junior Rorie Bass Foresman (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) added her first three career tallies to go with two caused turnovers. Senior Emma Lehr (Danville, Pa./Danville Area), first-year Kailey Stocker (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) and senior Erika Boyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) each had two scores, with Lehr adding 10 draw controls.
 
Junior Tess Arnold (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) posted a goal, four assists and five draw controls and first-year Erin Henn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sayville) contributed a goal and three assists.
 
The Warriors (1-2 overall) opened the game with six straight goals in the first eight minutes of the game, with Maguire notching three goals during that period. Maguire added her fourth goal of the period with 55 seconds left to help Lycoming take a 9-2 lead into the second quarter.
 
Lycoming pushed the lead to 13-2 off a goal from Foresman with 5:20 left in the second and led by 10 at halftime, 13-3. In the second half, the Warriors kept their double-figure lead throughout, closing the game with goals from Henn and Lehr to make it 17-5.
 
Maddie Waite led the Mounties with three goals and a groundball and Jordan Mason caused three turnovers and added three ground balls.
 
Sophomore Zoe Stauffer (Lititz, Pa./) stopped 11 shots to earn the win for the Warriors and Zoe Swank stopped six shots for the Mounties.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, March 9, when they host Moravian at 5 p.m., at UPMC Field.
