Warriors end historic season in MAC Freedom semifinals

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Getting their first taste of postseason action in the MAC Freedom Championship semifinal, the Lycoming College women's soccer team put together another hard-fought team effort, but third-seeded Lycoming fell, 2-0, to second-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday night, Nov.3, at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
 
Stevens (8-7-2 overall) moves on to the conference final on Saturday, Nov. 5, where they will face the nation's top-ranked team, Misericordia, at 1 p.m.
 
The Warriors (12-6-2 overall), under sixth-year head coach Kenny Fern, tied the program record for wins in a season (2004) and set the schools single-season shutout record with 10. The seven-member senior class finished their careers by helping the program to a school-record three 10-win seasons, going 33-21-4 (.603), tying the senior class of 2007 for most career wins despite the 2020 season being cancelled due to COVID-19.
 
The Ducks scored twice in the first half, with Olivia Panko and Rachel Rouse each finding the back of the net.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Abbey Gerasimoff (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) tied her career high with 10 saves and finished the season with a 8-6-1 record and the single-season shutout record, recording seven. Zoe Hindman and Dana Perry combined for one save for the Ducks.
 
Senior Bella Green (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) led the team with 10 goals and 22 points, her second double-digit goal season as she finished her career with 24 goals, 12 assists, and 60 points. Green is tied with Danielle Curry for fifth all-time in goals. She took the team's lone shot on goal in the game.
 
Senior Bridget Maaloum (Lynbrook, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) led the team with five assists and finished the season four goals and 13 points and finished her career with nine goals and 13 assists for 31 points.
 
The Warriors also played in a school-record 20 games in 2022.
